Privacy Policy

Deedwell is a brand of Cedarstone Ventures LLC. This policy explains what this website collects. It is short because the honest answer is almost nothing.

What we collect on this website

Nothing you have to give us, and nothing we choose to gather. There is no account, no login and no form of any kind on this site. Nothing here has a field to type into. The free checklist is published in full on the page and offered as a direct download; there is no email gate in front of it, and there never has been.

Since 2026-07-27 there is one optional link that offers alerts when an IRS figure changes. It is a link, not a form: it takes you off this site to a signup hosted by Gumroad. This site still collects nothing, and nothing here is gated behind it. Details below.

Since 2026-07-28 we run one analytics tool: Cloudflare Web Analytics. We added it because until then we had no way of telling whether anything we make reaches anybody. Per Cloudflare’s own documentation it uses no cookies and no localStorage, and it does not fingerprint you by IP address, User Agent or anything else; rather than identify visitors it counts page views arriving from a distinct navigation or referral. What reaches us is aggregate — page views, referrers, countries, browsers — and none of it is you. There is still no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no advertising pixel, no session recording, and no cookie set by us.

Two outside services load on every page of this site, and you should know about both. Cloudflare, for the analytics above, and Google Fonts, which serves the two typefaces. Fetching a file from either necessarily shows that company your IP address, as any request to any server does. We use neither to identify you, and from Google we receive nothing at all. Our host, GitHub Pages, keeps its own server logs, which we do not have access to and cannot query.

If you email us

Writing to info@cedarstonellc.com is the one way we would hold anything about you, and only because you sent it. Owners who register a copy give us an address, and we use it for three things and nothing else: (1) the next tax year's edition of the file you own, (2) a note when a figure or rule that touches that file changes, and (3) a reply when you write to us with a question. It sits in an ordinary mailbox, we do not run it through a marketing platform, and we do not sell, rent or trade it.

Those owner notes go out of an ordinary mailbox and not a sending platform, so they carry no unsubscribe link. Reply “stop” to any of them, or write to us at any time, and we delete the address rather than suppress it.

If you subscribe to IRS rate-change alerts

Added 2026-07-27, and genuinely optional. 2026 is a split year for the mileage rate: it changed on 1 July, and figures like that move most years. If you would rather be told than remember to come back and check, there is a link that signs you up to hear about it. Nothing on this site is gated behind it. The checklist stays free, the change notes stay posted openly, and you lose nothing by ignoring it.

The signup is hosted by Gumroad, our storefront. It is not on this site and we do not run it. If you use it you leave deedwell.co, Gumroad holds your address, and Gumroad sends the mail. What Gumroad does with it is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. We can see who is on the list, and we use it for one thing: telling you when a figure changed. We do not sell, rent or trade it.

To come off the list, use whatever unsubscribe control Gumroad puts in the message, or write to us and we will remove you. We have not sent one of these yet, so we are not going to tell you what the bottom of it will say. An earlier version of this site promised an unsubscribe link it had no way to deliver. We would rather promise you less and be right.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not track you across sites. We do not build a profile of you. We do not send anything you did not ask for.

A note on this page

Until 2026-07-26 this policy described collecting email addresses for a gated checklist and running "privacy-respecting analytics". Neither was true: the checklist has never been gated and no analytics has ever been installed. A privacy policy that overstates what a site collects is still wrong, so it has been rewritten to say what actually happens.

Then on 2026-07-28 it was wrong in the other direction, and worse. Analytics was installed that morning, and for a few hours this page still said “we run no analytics” and invited you to “check: this site loads no third-party scripts at all” — while the page you were reading loaded one. Anyone who took us up on that check would have caught us. It was an oversight rather than a choice: the tag went onto six pages and the sentence describing it did not. Corrected the same day, and while correcting it we also stopped glossing over Google Fonts, which has been loading here all along.

Later the same day it was corrected again, in the opposite direction. It had said a registered owner's address was kept for one purpose, while the registration page promised three uses of it — and that page also said every email would carry an unsubscribe link, which was never possible, because there is no sending platform to put one in. Understating what we do with an address is the same fault as overstating it, so both pages now say the same three things and describe the real way to get removed.

On 2026-07-27 it changed a third time, and this time because the facts changed rather than because it had been wrong. An optional rate-change alert list now exists, hosted by Gumroad. Two sentences here were true when written and are not any more: that there was no signup of any kind, and that there was no sending platform at all. Both have been narrowed to the thing they actually describe (the ordinary mailbox that owner notes come out of), and the new list is described separately, including the part we cannot yet promise.
